This module provides an introduction to, or refresher on, faecal incontinence in the elderly.
Faecal incontinence is leakage from the bowel due to poor bowel control.
As many as 5% of adults have poor bowel control.
Both the prevalence and severity of incontinence increase with age, with people aged 85 and over, who are more than five times more likely to experience severe incontinence than those aged 65–84 (28% vs 5%).
Despite this, incontinence should not be seen as an inevitable part of ageing. Careful assessment may lead to identification of treatable acute causes or improved management for chronic problems.
This module looks at the causes of faecal incontinence, assessment, and management strategies.
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
